Childrens' Carer Support

If you are a parent or Carer of a child with a disability, additional or complex needs, you can book care and support to give you a break from your caring role.

We can support your child with both care requirements and meaningful activities within your own or within your local community.

As we are a contracted and regulated charity, we can provide a care package utilising any personal budgets you may be allocated through your Local Authority and Health Authority, such as a personal health budget or direct payments. You can also book care and support on a private basis, you do not need a Social Worker to utilise our services.

Our Children and Young People services have been operating for over 30 years. We have a highly skiled and professional Carer Support Worker team with assessed competence in delivering personal care and support for a range of disabilities and conditions including Autism, Epilepsy, Physical disabilities, PEG feeding, learning disabilities, continence care, medication and tracheostomy. We work in partnership with any consultants or health specialists to ensure we are trained to meet any additional complex health care tasks.

As well as care and support in the home and community, we run regular social activity groups for children and young people, including life skill sessions.  Our groups run in term time and in school holidays. Our groups provide positive experiences by promoting social opportunities, friendships in inclusive and supported environments. All of our groups are fully accessible for children and young people that use hoists, wheelchairs or use other equipment

We have over 30 years experience in running activities for children, and have been a lead provider of Aiming High activities, funded by Stoke On Trent and Staffordshire County Council. Our staff are trained in a range of effective communication skills, including Makaton, PECs and WECs.

Allocation of a Carer Support Team

Our Carer Support Workers have been carefully selected and trained to a high standard to provide quality care and dependable support All of our Carer Support Workers are trained highly, meeting and exceeding qualifications detailed in The Care Act and have been assessed as competent through their Care Certificates.

We know that a regular and consistent team, is essential to the families we support. This is why we will introduce a small team to you and we will match this dependent upon your preferences, what you like to so, such as your hobbies and interests.

Your care package will be overseen by your Care Coordinator who will visit you regularly to gain your feedback about the service you receive and to plan to any change in needs and circumstances. We can also support you in professional meetings such as Children In Need (CIN) reviews or Education, Health and Care (EHC)  planning and Personal Independence Payment (PIP) reviews to advocate your rights and to ensure your voice is heard
